BMC issue and solution

I had received calls and accusation for the past few days saying that I was not at the scene when BMC residents were protesting the blockage by Grand Saga at the junction of the access road.

Frankly, when unnecessary clashes broke out at the ill-fated junction, I was informed and was aware of the proceedings. I called YB Yap( Balakong ) and OCPD of Kajang Police Office advising both parties to avoid confrontation and sorting peaceful dispersal. I knew the situation will turn up the other way and my presence at the scene would not help. Moreover there were already quite a number of MPs and YBs there. My presence might catch public or media attention. But, would it help solving the problem?

We had earlier seek solution through negotiations with all parties in the presence of State EXCO Ronnie Liu, MPKj Chairman, BMC developer, LLM and the residents at Kajang Municipal Office. An understanding was achieved at the meeting by giving few more days for the State surveyor to check the status of the land where the blockage was standing. The meeting was very encouraging and we were looking forward for a good gentleman way of settlement. I personally felt good and optimistic in sorting a peaceful solution. Unexpectedly, situation turned foul when the residents turned up few days later and bulldozed the blockage. The sentiment of the angry and inpatient residents was understandable. But, was it right to take laws into our own hands?

Another meeting was called and the surveyor asked for few more days. All parties agreed to wait and had appealed to all parties to wait till the ownership of the piece of land was revealed. Unfortunately, Grand Saga acted by calling in police force and tried to reinstate the blockage. As a result, situation turned uncontrolled and broke into clashes. I was informed and had immediately appealed to the police through OCPD and SB Chief Inspector to keep the situation under peaceful control. It was a sorry and undesired ending but luckily, no serious injuries caused.

We regretted the arrogant move from Grand Saga which had intimidated the residents. But, the sentiment driven crowd should bear part of the responsibility. I knew I could not play effective role and did not agree with the way it was handled, hence did not go to the scene. Definitely, I am not taking an on-looker stand. I had met State EXCO and MB Selangor seeking for a solution which will not jeopardise the rights of the BMC residents. I strongly prefer peaceful solution to the problem and not sorting to unlawful acts. The new State government is paving its way to set up effective and responsible governance for the people. As an assemblyman from the Government, I had reserved my actions and not playing the role of the opposition liked what had been in the past. I hereby pledge for your understanding and continue to right me if I were in the wrong. Thanks again for your concern and I am confident that we are together in the re-engineering of a new society.

Cikgu Lee, a firmer stand must be taken.

An MP was assaulted! In front of all of us. His car was vandalised!

Please establish who is right, who is wrong.

You can't say your presence will not make a difference. It's like you saying to us our 1 vote does not count for much.

If you were there, you will witness first hand how the FRUs treated us. Watch the video in youtube.

The Malaysiakini reporter said: I can't go there, they will hit me! Reporters were also not spared!

This is not a police state. When police brutality occurs, we must speak up. What's the use of clamouring for IPCMC & abolishment of oppressive laws if we do not speak up?

I will harp on this issue again.

Cikgu Lee,
I agree with ur stance
Whatever the cause we must not resort to any violence as they will be no end.iam not taking any side but negiotations would resolve this issue.
I support ur profound explanation.

I would like to ask Cikgu Lee why there is no questions raised on the developer of BMC.Dont they have social responsibility to the purchasers of their properties to be the lead in a solution?

Cikgu Lee,
I agree with you on not using violence to solve things out. However, If you see the whole thing from youtube, I don't see any of the BMC residents attack the police. Aren't they? They are just standing there making noise perhaps but there is not need to use the water canon and smoke. And why the police attack the MP? He did anything wrong? Can you please get the police to answer to all of us why they do that? We have the right to know why as one of our elected MP got injured by the police.
Can anyone answer that? Is there any needs to beat up the MP?

Thanks for your comments.
Selangor state Chief Minister had called all parties representatives to the table and wanting them to come to a solution without jeopardising the accessibility of the BMC residents to the road.Hopefully, there will be a good settlement next week.
Police brutality has been repeatedly reported and I had been arrested twice for the so called "illegal assembly".The last time was at the BMC junction. The Grand Saga and Hiway Authority(LLM)must be responsible for the mess, not to missed Samyvelu who had upgraded Cheras-Kajang old federal road to Highway without construction of alternative road like the case in Damansara Hihgway. Somebody must have swindled the allocation for alternative road.Anyway, that is the practice of BN government.
BMC residents are innocent victims. I understand the anger and restlessness endured.May8 Tsunami had cracked the wall of tyranny and light of hope had come through. Lets be patient and work with the reform government for a bigger breakthrough.

you are right, lets concentrate on other serious agenda than the drain, highway....

Cikgu Lee,all residents in BMC
are innocent but I still assert that the developer and highway company have to sort this out.
Residents pay for houses n lots of
profits made and toll are paid by users.Residents here r victims of
companies profit motive vs corprate social responsibility.
Thats all for this topic!

I think the press statement by the MB is just and symmetrical to my earlier assertions of two private companies seeking amicable solutions to this SAGA.
